Many followers of Christ are devoted, but in a messed up world full of complex relationships, “devotion” does not seem to be enough. In order to navigate the sometimes very rough waters of life, believers need to be “developed” in addition to being “devoted.” At Harrah Church, we believe that people can be devoted without being developed, but not developed without being devoted.
Our goal for everyone who desires to be a part of our faith community is that they are journeying toward becoming “fully developed in Christ.”
We believe that development involves every part of who we are. That’s why in addition to familiar elements of ministry like children’s church and youth group, we also are interested in ministry opportunities in the arts, recreation, and finances to name a few.
A very big part of what we believe to be development is “finding your fit.” Too often individuals are placed in ministry simply where there is the greatest and most pressing need. We believe that the need should not dictate the contribution, but that the contribution should be determined by the individual’s abilities and skill set. “Finding your fit” involves personal evaluation and relationship development in the context of a team.
Harrah Church has partnered with “Leading From Your Strengths” to provide personality assessments available at a discounted rate. These assessments are invaluable to understanding the unique way that God has created each one of us to contribute to the greater good.
To get started on the road to development, please go to Leading From Your Strengths, complete the assessment, and when prompted, provide the following email address: development@harrahchurch.com. This will allow us to assist you in understanding your gifts and finding your fit in ministry.
Another early step in your development is to participate in baptism. Get answers and information about the unique way we celebrate your baptism at Harrah Church. Find out more about baptism here.
